Ear Wax Removal

About our
micro suction clinic

We specialise in the micro suction technique of removing ear blockages. This is generally accepted to be the safest and most effective method and is completely syringe free with no need for weeks of softening with oil. The procedure commonly takes a few minutes for each ear. In some rare cases ear syringing can still be effective and some of our audiologists may still recommend and use this procedure where appropriate.

Only qualified audiologist and clinical ear care nurse specialists will help you to improve your hearing. Syringe free wax removal cleaning – a medical vacuum suction unit is used to safely de-wax your ears. Unblock your ears at one of our private micro suction clinics – you are in safe hands.

Micro suction ear wax removal

We have specialist training in ear wax removal using microsuction allowing us to offer a fast, safe and high-quality service to adults and children at very competitive prices.

Microsuction is a wax removal technique using a precision suction apparatus to suction unwanted or obstructing skin cells and wax from the ear canal. We use surgical lenses which provide binocular magnification so that the tip of the suction tube is always under direct vision.

This technique differs from standard ear syringing where liquid is squirted into the ear to dislodge the wax. Microsuction is a more precise and gentle technique than ear syringing.

We use the latest micro suction equipment

Why is Micro suction better?

Compared to traditional forms of wax removal – ear drops and irrigation or syringing, microsuction is:

  • Safer
  • Quicker
  • Cleaner and Neater
  • Generally better tolerated with less side effects
  • More effective and likely to need only one appointment
  • A faster process as it doesn’t require weeks of ear drops to soften the wax

  • The microsuction process can be noisy and occasionally can make you feel dizzy.
  • This usually passes within a few seconds. The procedure can last up to 30 minutes for both ears.

While some may resort to cotton buds or other objects to remove excess ear wax, this can lead to further blockages. A safer and more efficient solution is micro suction – a specialised medical technique offered at Active Hearing which effectively removes ear wax build-up.

Micro-suction is a contemporary technique for ear wax removal that is more comfortable and efficient than traditional ear syringing. The procedure involves a sterile, low pressure suction device that carefully removes wax. We will utilise a binocular microscope to ensure a safe, thorough procedure.
